How to Create an Apple Developer Account
A step-by-step guide on how to create your Apple Developer account and enroll in the Apple Developer Program for your iOS app(s). The Apple Developer Program is what gives you the ability to make your app available on the App Store for iOS users. Due to Apple's guidelines and policies, you are required to setup your own developer account for your app to be published. The good news is, because the app will exist under your account, you will have more control.
Before you begin you will need:
- An Apple ID with two-factor authentication turned on. Your Apple ID must be valid & up to date – including your first name, (given name), last name (family name), address, phone number, trusted phone number and trusted devices. The Apple ID should be one that belongs to the organization’s owner/founder, executive team member, senior project lead, or an employee with legal authority granted by a senior employee.
- D-U-N-S Number for your organization. You can search to see if you already have one here: https://www.dnb.com/duns-number/lookup.html or you can apply for a new number here: https://www.dnb.com/duns-number/get-a-duns.html
Join the Apple Developer Program
- Log in at https://developer.apple.com with your Apple ID.
- Click the link titled “Join the Apple Developer Program.” (see the red box in the screenshot below)
- Click on the "Enroll" button (see the red bordered section in screenshot below)
- Click on "Start Your Enrollment"
- Verify your email address, name and country location. Then select the account/entity type that you are going to enroll as (All apps built with Bluestone Apps will be a Company/Organization). Company/Organization allows for multiple user logins to be created and managed with varying permissions granted for each, thus allowing you and Bluestone Apps to manage your account after enrollment is complete.
- Fill out the contact information for your account. This all must match the information that you used for your DUNS registration. Enrolling as a Company/Organization requires a DUNS number registered with Dunn & Bradstreet. See earlier instructions for getting this number.
- Read and check the box to agree to the Apple Developer Account Agreement. Click Continue.
- Verify your account information and click Continue.
- Read the Auto Renewal page and give permission to automatically renew your membership each year. Click Continue.
- Sign in with your Apple ID (again).
- Fill in billing information and click Continue to finalize payment.
- Fill out the rest of the information on the following screens. Within 24 hours, Apple should send you an email confirming that the Apple Developer Account has been created successfully.
Add Bluestone Apps as an Admin on your Account
(After Approval)
After you have been approved, you will add Bluestone Apps as an administrator on the account so we can submit the app and updates on your behalf.
- Log into your account at https://developer.apple.com.
- Click on “Users and Access”
- Click the blue plus (+) sign
- Fill in the fields as below:
- First Name: Bluestone
- Last Name: Apps
- Email: smokyweb@gmail.com
- Roles: select “Admin”
- Make sure the box is checked next to “Access to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles
- Click “Invite.”
- You are done! Just make sure to let your Bluestone Apps Rep know that you have completed the steps and we will take it from here!
